A live African penguin is coming to the Sardinia Library as part of BCPL’s Summer Reading Program on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 5:30pm! Take a deep dive with the Newport Aquarium and WAVE Foundation presenting WAVE on Wheels: Meet a Penguin to learn all about our flightless friends; their predators, diet, habitats, and more. This STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) program is sponsored in whole or part by a Libraries Accelerating Learning grant from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.

The Georgetown Library welcomes toddlers and preschoolers to an engaging storytime experience! Children will enjoy singing songs, listening to stories, making crafts, and other fun activities that help build literacy skills.

Ahoy Mateys! Weigh anchor and set sail for Georgetown Library to embark on an exciting high seas adventure! Discover a show full of magic, fun and hidden treasures with Tricky Max and his swashbuckling crew of puppets!

Due to a twist of plans this event has been rescheduled for tonight, so drop in to the historic Gaslight Theater to watch the Madcap Puppets perform a beautiful adaptation of enchanted classic “The Wonderful World of Oz”. People of all ages will delight in the journey down the yellow brick road with Dorothy, Toto, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion and the Tin Man. Come see the show! This program was made possible by the Ohio Arts Council.

Attention penguin lovers! A second session has been added (1:00pm and 2:30pm) with a limit of 125 people per session. So let’s flip for penguins when Newport Aquarium’s WAVE Foundation rolls into Georgetown. A live African penguin, and his handlers, will take center stage at the historic Gaslight Theater located at 110 E. State Street, Georgetown, Ohio. So pick your session; march over and dive into learning about penguin adaptations.

Teens are invited to participate in a Bob Ross painting class presented by local artist and Certified Ross Instructor, Kevin Miller, at Georgetown Library. This event is free and all materials are provided. This program is funded in whole or in part by a grant from the Ohio Arts Council. Space is limited so call 937-378-3197 to register.

Learn how to use the sun's energy to create a scientific treat. Engineer a solar oven by using a cardboard box and a few household items; add graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate then simply let the sun ray’s heat the ingredients to create an ooey, gooey dessert. All materials will be provided. This fun family program was sponsored in whole or in part by a Libraries Accelerating Learning grant through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
